Staff Training

Would you like your service staff to learn the basics of beer styles and proper beer service? I can teach an overview or a deep dive into the beer styles that you offer, with or without a tasting component. Your bartenders can learn the importance of a “beer clean glass” and the optimal way to pour from a draught system, a bottle, or a can. I can offer strategies to help your servers market beer and upsell to customers. We’ll work together to identify learning objectives for your team.

    Beer and Food Pairing

    Are you interested in a themed tasting event that marries beers and food? Or are you looking to identify ideal beer pairings for dishes at your restaurant? We’ll figure out which beers and food pair well together based on the principles of Harmony or Contrast. Completely customizable based on your needs.

      Sensory Development Program

      If you’re looking to launch a sensory/quality control program at your bar, restaurant, or brewery, I can help. First, I’ll seek to understand why you want to set up a sensory program and help you define objectives. Then I’ll work with your team to create a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for your program, and design forms and tools to collect data. I’ll advise you on selection of your panelists and scheduling of your sessions to obtain the best value for your time and investment.

        One-on-one Coaching

        What do you want to learn about beer? I can offer one-on-one guided sessions as we explore a flight or two at a local brewery. Or we can focus your beer education on the topic of your choice. Are you aiming to add some credentials behind your name such as Cicerone Certified Beer Server, or Certified Cicerone®? Would you like to become a beer judge? I can help you design a study plan and get started on achieving your goal. This offering is completely customizable.
